Why This Recipe Works:

  • Flavor Combination: It combines the classic flavors of sweet cinnamon and sugar with the savory and slightly salty taste of pretzels, creating a delightful contrast of flavors.
  • Smoky Element: The use of a grill and wood chips adds a unique smoky dimension to the pretzels, enhancing their overall flavor profile.
  • Butter Coating: The pretzels are coated in melted butter before being seasoned with the cinnamon sugar mixture. This buttery base helps the cinnamon sugar adhere to the pretzels, ensuring even flavor distribution.

How To Make Smoked Pretzel Mix:

  1. 1. Preheat the smoker to 225 F. and set for indirect heat.
  2. 2. Begin by melting butter in a small pot on the stove or in the microwave. Toss the pretzels fully in the butter so they are evenly coated.
  3. 3. In a small bowl, whisk together the cinnamon and sugar until fully combined.
  4. 4. Toss the sugar mixture in with the butter-coated pretzels and use your hands or a spatula to mix everything until fully coated.
  5. 5. Place the pretzels in a large foil pan or spread out across a baking sheet. Place onto the grill grates and smoke for 15 minutes and then stir.
  6. 6. Repeat this process for about 60 minutes stirring a total of four times for even cooking. The pretzels should be warmed through and the sugar mixture should have hardened a bit but not burned or over-caramelized. Remove and let it cool.
  7. 7. Once cooled, toss in the M&M candies and the honey-roasted peanuts and serve as a snack or dessert mix and enjoy.
