Cocktail: Limoncello Margarita

The main focus for this week’s cocktail was to play up the flavors in Limoncello. Limoncello is a sweet, vibrant Italian liqueur made from lemon zest, sugar, and neutral alcohol (like vodka or grain alcohol). It’s traditionally produced in Southern Italy, especially along the Amalfi Coast and in Sicily. This is where the most fragrant, thick-skinned lemons grow in abundance ( I visited some of these lemon groves on my honeymoon!

Inspired by these flavors, I developed the Limoncello Margarita. This recipe blends zesty Italian limoncello with smooth tequila and fresh lime juice for a bright, citrus-forward cocktail. It’s the perfect drink for summer entertaining, patio happy hours, or adding a sweet and tangy twist to classic margaritas.

Mains: Chicken Parmesan Sandwich (Family Style) + Grilled Branzino

To me, summer is all about sandwiches, and a good chicken parm can’t be beat. I love that this recipe specifically makes it easy to prep the chicken ahead of time (and yes, it can stay crispy) while I prep the rest of my recipes, so everything comes out on time. As for the grilled branzino, this one is just simply a showstopper. It’s light, flavorful, and is shockingly easy to do (even though cooking and preparing a whole fish can sometimes look way more intimidating than it is). I hope you give both of these a try.

Hosting Tips for an Italian-Inspired Al Fresco Evening

Creating a warm, welcoming patio vibe is just as important as the food. For this Italian-themed night, opt for a simple tablescape with rustic touches (think linen napkins, vintage glassware, and fresh herbs like basil or rosemary in small jars).

Set the mood with soft lighting from string lights or candles, and play a relaxed Italian playlist in the background (classic Dean Martin or modern Italian jazz both work great). Serve dishes family-style to encourage conversation and connection, and don’t forget to chill your limoncello or batch the margaritas ahead of time for easy pouring. A relaxed host sets the tone, so prep what you can early and enjoy the evening with your guests!
