Ingredients
2cupsLow Sodium Soy Sauce (standard soy sauce can be to salty as this reduces)
1cupPineapple Juice
1.5cupsKetchup
1cupBrown Sugar
1/2cupHoney
1/4cupRice Wine Vinegar
2tspGinger minced or paste
4Garlic Cloves minced
2tbspSesame Oil
Slurry
1tbspCornstarch
2tspWater
Instructions
In a large saucepan, combine soy sauce, pineapple juice, ketchup, brown sugar, vinegar, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger.
Place over medium heat and bring to a gentle simmer.
Cook, stirring often, until the sauce reduces and thickens slightly, about 15–20 minutes.
Combine the cornstarch and water to make a slurry. Add to the BBQ sauce to thicken and cook 2-3 additional minutes (it will thicken more as it cools).
Remove from heat and let cool. The sauce will continue to thicken as it cools.
Transfer to an airtight container or glass jar and refrigerate until ready to use.
