Get the full guide to roasting perfectly juicy BBQ chicken right in your oven with all your favorite smoky flavors.

Cooking Tools Needed: – Baking Sheet – Cooling Rack – Paper Towels – Basting Brush – Aluminum Foil Meat Thermometer

You can work with any type of chicken pieces (legs, drums, breasts, thighs, etc.). I like a whole chicken split into pieces so there's a variety.

Make sure you use chicken that's dry. Pat it dry with paper towels to start or leave it uncovered in the fridge for up to 24 hours too.

Another trick is to add some baking powder or cornstarch to your dry rub. This helps absorb excess moisture too. Let it sit for 2 hours in the fridge.

Take all your chicken pieces and toss them in a bowl with your favorite BBQ rub and spices (my rub recipe is linked).

To bake, line a baking sheet with foil and add a roasting rack or cooling rack to elevate the chicken for even air flow. Place the pieces on the rack.

Bake until each piece is cooked through to about 150-155 F. This is when you can start to sauce your chicken. Do not sauce any earlier or the sauce can burn.

Brush you sauce over each piece top to bottom. Let it back for 10-15 minutes and sauce again. I like one that's a bit spicy, use any sauce you love here.

Your oven baked BBQ chicken is done when your pieces all hit an internal temperature of 165 F. Let them rest 5-10 min before serving.

Serve your chicken up with all your favorite sides and extra sauce! Grab all the recipe details below via the link and happy cooking!
