A sweet, smoky, medium heat barbecue sauce recipe using apricot jam. A perfect versatile sauce you can use on chicken wings, pork ribs, smoked ham, and more!
1/2cupApricot Jam Use no sugar added to control sweetness level
1cupKetchup
1/4 cupHoney
1/3 cupBrown Sugar
2tbspWorcestershire sauce
1tbspApple Cider Vinegar
1/2 tspSalt
1/2 tspBlack Pepper
1/2 tspGarlic Powder
1/2tspOnion Powder
1/2 tspChili Powder
1 tbspSmoked Paprika
1/4 tspCayenne Pepper
Instructions
In a small bowl, combine all your dried spices together and mix well.
Next, place medium saucepan or pot on the stove and add all of your ingredients to the pot. Bring to medium-high heat and stir to combine everything.
To the apricot BBQ sauce mixture, add your spices and mix well to combine.
Reduce your heat to low and stir occasionally. Taste your BBQ sauce and adjust sweetness or spice level to your desired preference.
Remove your apricot BBQ sauce from the heat and set it aside to cool to room temperature. Place in an airtight container or jar and store in the fridge.
Serve over your favorite chicken and pork recipes! Sauce is good for up to 7 days.
Notes
If you like your sauce extra smoky, you can add liquid smoke. I prefer to not add it and just use the sauce on smoked foods. Check out the full post for links to all my favorite BBQ and smoked meats!
