Try this delightful holiday appetizer of pigs in a blanket wreath! This festive creation features tender American Wagyu beef Lil' Smokies wrapped in flaky puff pastry, artfully arranged in a wreath shape. Served with a luscious cheese sauce for dipping, it's the perfect combination of savory, buttery, and cheesy flavors that will have your guests coming back for seconds.

Ingredients

  • 1 box Puff Pastry cold but defrotsted
  • 24 mini Hot Dogs we love Raikes Beef Lil Smokies
  • 1 Egg for egg wash
  • 1 tbsp Poppy Seeds
  • 1 tbsp Sesame Seeds
  • 1 tbsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 batch Brie Fondue
  • Fresh Rosemary for garnish- optional

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375 F. and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Open the puff pastry sheets and remove the packaging. Cut each sheet into 12 equal size squares.
  • Take a lil smokie hot dog and wrap it into the puff pastry square, pressing down to seal the ends underneath the hot dog and place it onto the parchment paper lined baking sheet. Be sure to space the hot dogs out across the baking sheet as they puff up a lot as they cook.
  • Brush the top of the puff pastry with egg wash and sprinkle on the seasonings.
  • Bake the pigs in a blanket for about 20-25 minutes until the puff pastry is golden brown and the hot dogs are heated through.
  • Remove and let them cool for about 5 minutes. Place your favorite sauce or this brie cheese fondue into the center of a platter. Place the lil smokies stacked around the bowl to create a wreath shape. Garnish with rosemary to make it festive and enjoy!

Notes

I love puff pastry for this recipe but you can also substitute for other pre-made doughs like canned crescent roll dough or premade pie crust as well. This may modify baking time and temperature however.
