The Fault In Our Sangria: Berry Basil Rose Sangria Recipe

Berry Basil Rose Sangria being poured into a glass.

A slightly sweet and slightly sparkling rose sangria infused with refreshing summer strawberries and homegrown basil. Check out this lower carb sangria recipe!

This week’s Bon Appeteach “Book Club” recipe is a play on the popular young adult novel by John Green. This book is definitely a tearjerker so a refreshing, chilled, summer sangria only seemed fitting for this weeks cocktail inspiration.

A bright summer sangria is the perfect evening refresher. This recipe would be delicious with a crispy and buttery white, but I chose to go with a dryer rose this week to balance out the berries and be a bright pop of color in comparison to the berries.

Berry Basil Rose Sangria Recipe:

  • 1 Bottle Rose
  • 1 bunch Fresh Basil
  • 1/2 cup diced Strawberries
  • 1/2 cup Raspberries
  • 1/2 cup sliced Cucumber
  • Keto Simple Syrup to taste
  • Club Soda

Stirred, Not Shaken:

Sangria is perfect for a crowd and great all summer long. Prepare this drink earlier in the morning and allow it to sit so the flavors can meld and marry. Simply start by choosing your favorite pitcher and pour in the entire bottle of rose.

Add in the sliced strawberries, raspberries, and cucumber. To activate some of the natural oils in the basil, slap the leaves between your two palms before adding to the pitcher. This helps elevate the natural aromatics in the basil and adds to the overall flavor.

Allow the mixture to sit for a few hours if possible. If you like your drinks to be on the sweeter side, add a few ounces of keto simple syrup or regular simple syrup if desired. Pour the rose into glasses and top off with a little club soda before serving.
